International Exhibition "Modern Children's Book of China"

October 10 at the Gomel Regional Universal Library named after V.I. Lenin hosted the opening of the international traveling exhibition of illustrated literature, “The Modern Children's Book of China,” organized by the Confucius Institute with the support of the State Chancellery to Spread the Chinese Language Abroad (Hanban).

Before arriving in Gomel, the exhibition traveled to many foreign countries, including Germany and Russia, in September it was exhibited in Minsk, and the Confucius Institute attached to the F. Skorina State University was the last stage of its “movement”. The exhibition presents more than 70 copies of beautifully illustrated contemporary children's books in Chinese: folk tales, short stories, science fiction stories, legends of ancient China. Each book is accompanied by a colorfully designed annotation in Russian, giving an idea of ​​the contents of the book.

The director of the library M.S. took part in the opening ceremony of the exhibition. Rafeeva and director of the Confucius Institute on the Belarusian side Wang Lei, who noted the importance of this event for Gomel schoolchildren and the cultural life of the city, its relevance for the current stage of development of Belarusian-Chinese relations.

Chinese girls, students of the preparatory department Chen Mutong and Lu Minyi, who performed traditional Chinese melodies on folk instruments, set the bar high for the opening of the exhibition. Further, the floor was given to students of high schools and schools of Gomel studying Chinese. Angelina Sebik from the 10th gymnasium, an active participant in all the activities of the Confucius Institute, read in Chinese the fairy tale "Clever Monkey and a Silly Crocodile", which her friend Maria Kireeva retold in Russian. Anastasia Budkova, a student at the regional lyceum, who visited China this summer, delivered the message “China through my eyes,” and Angelina Savenok read poems about her homeland in Chinese. Poems and songs in Chinese were also performed by students of gymnasium No. 71 and secondary schools No. 72 and No. 44, where the second-year students of the Celestial Empire, fourth-year students of the Faculty of Philology, Angelina Aksenchikova-Biryukova and Violetta Beloded, as well as a fourth-year student of the faculty of foreign languages, also taught languages ​​Svyatoslav Aksenichikov-Biryukov.

An organic and striking addition to the performances of gymnasium students and schoolchildren was the performance of young athletes under the guidance of their coach, chairman of the Gomel Regional Wushu Federation, Valery Golda.

Employees of the Confucius Institute presented all the participants of the grand opening of the exhibition of children's books in China in the regional library with sweet treats and souvenirs, including those printed in the publishing department of the university for writing hieroglyphs.
