The main national holiday of China and the national day in the country - the anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (National Day in China) - is celebrated annually on October 1.

It was on this day in 1949 that the Education of the People's Republic of China was proclaimed at a rally on Tiananmen Square in Beijing, and on December 2 of that year the central government issued a decree declaring October 1 a national holiday. Previously, in the 50s, an essential part of the celebrations dedicated to him was a grand military parade on Tiananmen Square in Beijing.

After 1959, it was decided to hold parades only on “round” dates, but due to the beginning of the “cultural revolution” they were canceled completely, and only in 1984, to the 35th anniversary of the PRC, troops and equipment passed before the stands.
The main streets of the capital, the central squares for this holiday are always decorated with huge compositions of natural flowers. Under them, first build a platform and frames of boards, rails, pipes and wire. Then a skillfully executed figure of green branches and flowers is set in the center: a dragon, a peacock, an elephant.

Tiananmen Square is decorated with a special fabrication. Here in October 1987, millions of Pekingians admired the fountains and pools, among which were the Great Wall of China woven from branches and flowers, the pagoda in Yan'an, a double gazebo from the island of Taiwan, the boat on which the first CPC congress took place. Then the last time the square was decorated with huge portraits of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin, henceforth it was decided to exhibit only a portrait of Sun Yatsen at the monument to the People’s Heroes.

The celebration of the founding of the People's Republic of China lasts five days, this almost week-end is one of three golden weeks in China (along with holidays dedicated to Chun Jie, the traditional Lunar New Year and May Day holidays). In the central parks of the capital, on October 1, folk festivals are held according to the same scenario as on May 1; in the evening, large fireworks are sometimes arranged.
