Meeting of the Minister of Education with Chinese students

On March 13, a solemn meeting of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus I.V. Karpenko with Chinese citizens studying in educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus and having high achievements in studies, research and public activities in the framework of the Year of Education of Belarus in China. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Cui Tsimin, took part in the event. The meeting was attended by Chinese students, undergraduates and graduate students from 14 universities of our country. F. Skaryna Gomel State University was represented by Chinese philology students from Shanghai, undergraduate student of the Faculty of Physics and Information Technologies Liu Imin (supervisor - Professor AV Rogachev), as well as Belarusian students of Chinese who successfully combine their studies with public work . Led the delegation of the GSU them. F. Skorina, Deputy Director of the Confucius Institute, Professor V.I. Koval and the senior teacher of the department of Russian, general and Slavic linguistics I.V. Serikov.

In his speech to the participants of the meeting, Minister of Education I.V. Karpenko told about the versatile cooperation of universities and scientific institutions of Belarus with universities in China, about the prospects for learning Chinese in our country. In his speech, in particular, the following information was given: more than 3,000 Chinese students, undergraduates and graduate students study in Belarusian universities and more than 1,000 Belarusian young men and women undergo vocational training in universities in China. In addition, in twenty-five schools, gymnasiums and lyceums of Belarus, Chinese is taught as an academic subject; in a large number of Belarusian educational institutions, Chinese is studied in the form of electives. Ambassador Mr. Cui Tsimin and the rector of the Belarusian State University, Professor A.D. King. Many participants of this event received well-deserved awards - thanks and certificates. Among those awarded with the gratitude of the Minister for active participation in the public life of the university is undergraduate of the Faculty of Physics and Information Technologies Liu Imin. The solemn part of the event ended with a wonderful concert given by Belarusian and Chinese students.

In conclusion, the Minister of Education I.V. Karpenko and Ambassador Tsui Tsimin visited the exhibition, which presented the achievements of each university in Belarus in expanding and deepening cooperation with China in the humanitarian, scientific and technical fields. The interest of the high guests was also aroused by the materials presented by our university: collections of scientific papers on relevant topics, a textbook on pedagogy published in Chinese, authored by a former professor of our university, I.F. Kharlamov, numerous photographs, video materials and informational publications, as well as a short story about the main activities of the recently opened Confucius Institute.
